Few weeks before the concern’s
about privacy were again all around the web thanks to the US
government and its policy to use tech giants of the Silicon Valley to
spy on people and governments all around the web .This led to a lot
of debates and various countries taking a stern action against the US
. But what one should do to protect his or her own privacy at home
from intruders? There we will shed some light on few basic things you
can do to protect your privacy.
1] Sign out of Google while
browsing
While browsing refrain from logging
into Google as all your data will be stored as history by Google
while searching on Google. In order to delete your browsing history
go to your Google account setting there you will see Account activity
under the account tab just go there and delete all your data. There
are many cases where governments all around the world have required
for user data.
2] Encrypt your drives
This may sound difficult but there
are inbuilt features in both Windows and Mac. Windows user can use
the bit locker software found in windows 7 and windows 8 .Mac user
can also do the same.
3] Use a ip masking Software
Visiting an unknown website think
twice, you might be leaving your digital footprint like your ip
address, web browser, location etc. To prevent your information from
getting tracked you can use an ip masking software or for that matter
even an proxy website that will act as an intermediate between you
system and the website by shielding your actual information .Making
an Google search for ‘proxy websites’ will return a lot of
website which will complete your needs.
4] Google- 2 step verification
Google is offering a service where
you will be provided an authentication code on your phone every time
you try to login from an system which you have never before which
eliminates the possibility of your e-mail account to be hacked. This
option can be activated by going into your Google account setting
where you will find it under the security tab.
5] Don’t save password on
your browser
Maximum number of credit cards
frauds and account hacking takes place due to very reason. So don’t
save your passwords on your browsers.
6] Google alert on your name
This may sound silly but can create
a search alert for a particular query on Google where every time the
specified query is searched by someone it will alert you .You can
find this service here .
7] clear all your history and
cookies
You can do so by going to your
browser setting and tell it to automatically delete your browsing
history and cookies or use a third party application like Ccleaner.
